Environmental Awareness

I apologize for not writing recently.  I have suffered some illness that has kept me pretty well drained – I am on the mend and doing well!  Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.

This is an article I recently read – although not having the energy or will to write – I have been doing lots of reading.  Ya’ll might find this interesting!  Should this be true – I guess the question is “Now What?”  I copied this from “Red State.”

“Climate change” cools off

 By: John Hayward  |  March 8th, 2013 at 03:08 PM  |  29

These are not happy times for the Church of Global Warming, which has been trying to repackage its manufactured hysteria as “climate change” for several years.  But according to the New York Times on Thursday, we’ve actually come full circle to where we began in the Seventies: global cooling.

After some flapdoodle about global temperature spikes (in fact, not only is there no evidence connecting human activity to any such spike, most recent data says there wasn’t much of a “spike,” and what heating occurred mostly leveled out a decade ago) and quoting the ridiculous Michael Mann of “hockey stick graph hoax” fame as an “expert,” the Times casually drops the same narrative that global-warming cultists have decried as heresy for the past thirty years:

Though the paper is the most complete reconstruction of global temperature, it is roughly consistent with previous work on a regional scale. It suggests that changes in the amount and distribution of incoming sunlight, caused by wobbles in the earth’s orbit, contributed to a sharp temperature rise in the early Holocene.

The climate then stabilized at relatively warm temperatures about 10,000 years ago, hitting a plateau that lasted for roughly 5,000 years, the paper shows. After that, shifts of incoming sunshine prompted a long, slow cooling trend.

The cooling was interrupted, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, by a fairly brief spike during the Middle Ages, known as the Medieval Warm Period. (It was then that the Vikings settled Greenland, dying out there when the climate cooled again.)

Scientists say that if natural factors were still governing the climate, the Northern Hemisphere would probably be destined to freeze over again in several thousand years. “We were on this downward slope, presumably going back toward another ice age,” Dr. Marcott said.

Instead, scientists believe the enormous increase in greenhouse gases caused by industrialization will almost certainly prevent that.

Wait, what?  Sunlight affects global temperatures?  Who could have seen that coming?

For the moment, leave aside those sensationalist claims about “enormous increases in greenhouse gases caused by industrialization” – a simple enough observation given that pre-industrial societies produce very little greenhouse gas, outside of human and animal flatulence, but not logically connected to any measurable shift in global climate.  Aren’t these scientists conceding that man-made global warming might be… good?  Wouldn’t that mean the people who have been trying to bankrupt Western industry with madcap environmental laws have also been ignorantly shoving us into the frozen hell of a new Ice Age?

The same thought occurred to a student encountered by British eco-gadfly James Delingpole, writing at the UK Telegraph:

I’ve been at my old school Malvern College all week, poisoning the minds of the young with my dangerous views on sustainability, climate change, “biodiversity” and other sacred green cows. But a lot of the time, it has to be said, my work wasn’t necessary. In one geography class specifically dedicated to climate change, the first kid to stick up his hand said: “What’s wrong with the world getting warmer anyway? It will mean we get nicer summers!”

Which is what the kids would no doubt refer to as an epic fail for all the official propaganda we’ve been fed these last few decades. The boys and girls in that particular class would have been precisely the target audience at which the Labour government aimed its infamous Bedtime Stories advert, the £6 million effort in 2009 commissioned by the Department of Energy and Climate Change to scare impressionable kids witless with tales of a hideous carbon monster which was going to drown their puppies. If the enviro loons can’t even manage to brainwash the young with their lies, spin junk science, what chance do they have with grown ups?

Delingpole goes on to review polling data that shows most of the public doesn’t care about “climate change” and never really did, even back when Western nations weren’t grinding their way through endless recessions and limp “recoveries.”

And yet, the Church of Global Warming rose to incredible power across the West, even as their demands were blithely ignored by authoritarian states.  Countless billions in compulsory tithe has been extracted from taxpayers in America and Europe for this mandatory State religion.  It doesn’t matter that most of the public never really bought into the hype, because they didn’t oppose it strongly enough, and the Left saw it as the perfect vehicle for a profoundly moralistic crusade in favor of Big Government. You planet-ravaging vermin can’t be trusted, with all your dirty machines and consumerist greed!  You must be controlled, and those who resist are enemies of the planet itself, which speaks through a self-appointed environmentalist priesthood.  No debate can be permitted, because we haven’t got a single moment to lose!  And can you really blame us for erring on the side of caution, when the fate of the Earth is at stake?  How can you doubt that industry is killing the world – can’t you see those billowing clouds of smoke, hear the ominous rumble of the machines, and smell the carbon?

But the “consensus” in favor of climate change continues to slip away, with a “shock poll” last year showing that only 30 percent of meteorologists think global warming is worth worrying about.  The radical Greens are reduced to squabbling over slices of a shrinking panic pie, with the wind and solar crowds at each others’ throats, and cultists scrambling to come up with reasons why greenhouse-gas-friendly “fracking” is really the Devil’s work.  This week, Bloomberg News reported that “almost 90 percent of insurance companies lack a comprehensive plan to address climate change, and fewer than half of them view it as a likely source of financial losses.”  The demon lords of global warming are no longer fearsome enough to command billions of dollars, and thousands of jobs, in sacrifice – not when voters worry that something has gone deeply, badly wrong with their economy.

The heck of it all is that global cooling always was the more plausible, scientifically sound threat.  Those solar energy variations really might presage a significant drop in planetary temperature.  But global cooling wasn’t politically useful – it was too difficult to pin on human activity, and too hard to hype with voodoo fearmongering about wild weather patterns.  The people could not easily be convinced that their machines were making the world colder.  When they noticed it wasn’t getting consistently warmer, “global warming” became “climate change.”  Then they noticed that the “climate change” elite wasn’t wasting any time acting as if their extravagant lifestyles were killing the Earth, descending upon million-dollar eco-conferences in mighty fleets of carbon-spewing jets.  Now that Al Gore, the Pope of Global Warming, has lined his pockets with oil money, the game is pretty much over… and we’re left hoping that maybe his propaganda was just a little bit right, because Winter Is Coming, and man-made greenhouse-gas warming might be our best hope against it.”

Best Wishes to everyone – again – thanks for the prayers and well wishes.  Back on Track!

I recently ran across a very interesting book by Ms. Crissy Trask – “It’s Easy Being Green.”  In the book, she states some common sense laws for Green Purchasing:

“The laws of green purchasing, in their most rigid forms, can best be summed up as “by not, buy less, buy green.”  Assuming the choices you make won’t endanger anyone or interfere with your obligations, this prescription is sound.  Pursued absolutely, you would “buy not” if you could not justify a practical need for something, “buy less” when less would do, and “buy green” whenever possible.”

These laws are what we espouse as well.  Check out www.asiagreen.org for some great products that will allow an easy path to sensible green purchasing.

What the heck is going on?  When fuel prices rise, so does our food bill, heating bills, transportation costs, etc.  It is just crazy! Is there anything we can do about it?  Our buying power was reduced by over 8% in the last year?  To a southern, country boy, that means I spend more with less to live!

Checkout www.asiagreen.mysyntek.com.  Asia Green is an Environmental and Wellness Company.  We bring the best of the world to the world!  We found a product that will increase mileage, reduce pollution, extend the life of engines, and improve performance.  Xtreme Fuel Treatment (XFT)!

I personally use XFT – I went from 22KM’s per Liter to 38KM’s per Liter – wow!  how?  well – when I checked – it has a direct corresponding factor to the quality of the fuel I am using.  The general sate of the quality of fuel available here is less than stellar – so this product works even better!

How long as XFT been in the market?  over 20 years!  XFT uses Nobel Prize Winning Technology!  Check out the Nobel Prize for Chemistry of 1973.  Anyone can look up this information – this technology is incorporated into XFT!

Originally XFT was used to stop diesel fuel from separating in generators – the fuel would sit for months, sometimes years – and would separate.  When it was time to use the generator – it wouldn’t start!  Adding XFT at a 10,000 to 1 dilution ration (makes it very economical!) would ensure the diesel would be fresh for over 20 years!  Also, when NASA was trying to launch rockets – the rockets would burn all the fuel immediately – big boom and no rockets!  The ingredients of XFT were used to lower the burn rate – called a burn rate modifier – which allowed more of the fuel to burn at a lower temperature.  Actually makes sense.  That black stuff coming out the back is normally unburnt fuel – which we are paying for and polluting the environment.  Using XFT will ensure more of the fuel is burnt – leading to more efficiency – lowering the temperature which allows to longer life of oil and the engine!

Easy to use – www.asiagreen.mysyntek.com has all the test results and information for getting some XFT!  We look forward to serving everyone in the near future!  All the contact information is located at the website – so drop a line – let us know your story!

Sheesh – some people actually will question science and spend more and more of their own money – which is worth less – to live!  Lets make sense!  Oh, some people will question “additives!”  Take a look at what is in the fuel today – lots and lots of additives – most destructive – but mandated by the government!  What buying power we have left – lets use it wisely!

Trash is everywhere!  We tend to categorize trash into two piles – Bio-Degradable and Non-Biodegradable.  Either way, tons of TRASH are being put into Manila Bay each and everyday!  Guess what?  The Bay is spitting it back on us!

Recently there was a huge storm surge.  The storm surge deposited over 1,900 TONS OF TRASH onto Roxas Boulevard.  The U.S. Embassy was affected to the point it closed operations.  After the storm surge – the city was complaining “Durijg storm-related calamities, the volume increases five-fold and include water damaged appliances and furniture.”  This was a direct quote taken from the Philippine Daily Inquirer of August 15, 2012.

Today, just a couple of weeks later, there is no more news about trash although tons are still being dumped each and everyday into the bay.  Additionally, I recently wrote about a dinner cruise I had the pleasure of taking on the beautiful bay – halfway during the dinner cruise, the smell was so overpowering no one could continue their eating!  I would guess that included in the two kinds of general trash is now a third category – human waste!

It is sometimes reported that there are over 20 tons of trash being dumped into the bay everyday.  Pictures are occasionally found in the local papers and TV news reports of children  “walking” on water – across the trash.   I would suspect, and my research bears out that there are many places in the world where corruption and negligence plays a huge role in disease, fouling drinking water, and making living conditions horrible for millions of people.  Corruption?  Yep, it is a dirty little secret here in the Philippines that many Mayors take a cut of each truck load of trash – and the trash is not deposed of properly.  Negligence?  Yep – law enforcement does not enforce the laws – either because they too are on the take or they don’t have the necessary tools and assets to stop the known pollution!

Lets take for a minute the human waste being dumped into the Manila Bay – how many ships are in the bay – where is the enforcement for when those ships dump their loads?  Where is the enforcement when developers just dump raw sewage into the bay?

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has some innovative, cost effective methods of turning trash into reusable materials – both bio-degradable and non-biodegradable.   The “Zero-Waste Recycling Movement of the Philippines” also has some tremendous methods of turning trash into usable products.  How come there is no movement to use these cost effective techniques to rid ourselves of the trash?  I would suspect that once the politicians are exposed for the harm they are doing to the environment – and thereby people – all in the name of money in their pocket – the system will change.

Until the system changes and the politicians are brought to bear for their actions, and the companies that are knowingly ignoring laws and regulations are brought to justice, we will continue to have massive pollution, sickness, and problems!

There are systems right now in Manila that can recycle ALL trash into cement blocks or charcoal. These systems can also be used as livelihood programs!

Lets all think about it for a moment and just start asking questions.  There are solutions! Many other countries and cities have found the will to change and have clean, productive, and most of all lasting environments!  How about us?

O k – I authored a blog about the Administration knowingly releasing water that causes flooding – with apparently no plans; no disaster preparedness; and causing deaths – knowingly.

Well, guess what?  Turns out – it may have been over development in Manila.  Seems there are lots of words in the Number 1 newspaper in the Philippines – front page stuff – it is over development!  If there was only more green spaces!

No wait – Now they are going to “blast” settlers homes and obstructions – yep – in one area – the Administration has decided to move over 100,000 people – they were the cause of the floods!  This should be interesting!

OH NO – Wait – it is the MMDA Flood Control Chief – he was “SACKED!”  He was blamed for causing the massive flooding!  He evidently didn’t make sure a pumping station in Tagiug, Quezon City had fuel to pump!  He ordered it of course – for some reason the bureaucracy didn’t respond in time – and as a good bureaucrats – they “sack” the local guy – it’s his fault!  Of course – the lead line in the story is “HEADS finally rolled.”  Shame .. there is so much more to this than one or two people causing deaths. Where are the Standard Operating Procedures? Where is the Disaster Relief Planning? Where is the leadership?

Looks like the Administration is waiting till the sun comes out; will bury the dead; and move on till it happens again.  But – the Administration is proud to have found the reason for so much water being released at one time!

I noticed an article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer a couple of days later in the Business Section – “Power projects to be bid out this week.”  Guess what – not one mention of hydroelectric!  Shame – Administration forward planning huh?  They are bidding out four diesel-fired power barges.  Great – doesn’t fuel add to Global Warming which is the convenient culprit for all this flooding – according to the Administration?  Hmmm…seems we have a conflict here – can’t be possible –

Let’s ask – where is the planning?  Where is the leadership? Where is the Disaster Preparedness?  Again, we will have decisions made by the Administration that will kill people.  Guess what – it rains in the Philippines!  There will be more rain – we blame it on overdevelopment of a city of over 12 million people?  We blame it on settlers?  We blame it all on what it is not and the Administration will not face what it is!

LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!

It has been reported that the President of the Philippines, President Aquino axed a key flood-control project in 2010 – a flood-control project that would have saved lives and decreased tremendously the amount of damage to personal, private, government, and agriculture properties!  Reported in the supposed number 1 newspaper in the Philippines.  Yep, in a column by Rigoberto Tiglao!  WHAT?

Yep – Turns out the President decided the last Administration added corruption into the project – so he canceled it.  No proof – and with the written assurance of the Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme about the integrity of the project  – Aquino  still decided that the project, worth 6 billion pesos, was corrupt because it was designed over 3 years; designed with 7 different government agencies; and designed in cooperation of the Belgian Government.  So, through pettiness and no forethought, Aquino decides to cancel the project.  Who is the side-kick?  Oh – Senator Franklin Drilon (remember him during the impeachment proceedings? – obvious lackey to the “Petty” decisions of the President).

As the story unfolds, the Bangko Sentral ng Philinas Governor approved the project and the foreign funding.  Mr. Aquino’ Justice Secretary Leila de Lima found nothing wrong with the project; Gov. Jorge Ejercito was an ardent supporter – he is the Governor of Laguna and knows how and why it was necessary; and finally, Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme vouched for the project’s integrity and even submitted to Aquino an independent engineering firm’s evaluation of the project – all of this and yet – Aquino cancelled the project that would have saved lives, property, crops, livelihoods, and so much more!  Why?  As Rigoberto Tiglao said in a recent column on this subject “Why did Mr. Aquino cancel such a crucial project?  Because of his irrational, apoplectic bias that everything his predecessor did or planned was corrupt.”  The Laguna Governor, in 2010, said, again quoting from the Rigoberto Tiglao column, “They have been trumpeting that corruption tainted the project.”  “To this day, Mr. Aquino has not presented an iota of evidence, or even any specific charge of corruption, in the project.”

So, maybe it is not a errant pump station operator; maybe it is not over development of Metro Manila; maybe it is not the settlers; maybe not even the trash; how about because of a possible petty nature of the President of the Republic of the Philippines and his pathetic lapdogs!

I feel sorry for the hundreds of people who have died – I feel sorry and keep those families in my prayers, as we should all do, that have lost their earnings, property, family members –

The Republic of the Philippine is a wonderful place – so sad to see such amateurs in action!  Also – scarce resources will be lost – under this same team of incompetents, there could be a cost of over four BILLION pesos in addition to at least two BILLION for legal expenses – and more of course – all because of what?  Pettiness?  Thanks Mr. President!

There are answers.  There are solutions.

Recently we experienced, the Administration once again, ordering the flood gates open; ordering the dams to release water – and people died!

This is not the first time we have experienced the Administration’s management decisions that end up killing people!  What lessons did we learn just three years ago with “Ondoy?”  It is obvious there was very little “learning” going on!  Easier to blame it on “Global Warming!”  Silly to hear grown men on the radio, during the disaster – blaming Global Warming!

Why can’t the Administration know the levels of water; anticipate the water levels; and release water in a systematic , make sense manner, instead of all at once releasing water!  Over 100 people have died – not because of Global Warming; not because of trash; not because of low-income families and where they settle – it is solely the amount of water that was suddenly released – by order of the Administration.

Taking a look at the situation, we need to ask some questions.

  1.  How come they could not predict the amount of rainfall?  Well – turns out the Administration is not paying the weather-guessers – and the weather-guessers don’t necessarily come to work – so there could be someone very inexperienced guessing!
  2. How come the Administration, knowing that amount of water being released will kill people, does not have a disaster preparedness plan in place?  How come there is no coordinated plan?  Almost entire provinces end up under water for weeks.  Now we must suffer through disease, malnutrition, etc. because of Administration decisions!  People Dying!
  3. Is it Global Warming?  Hmmm .. I would suggest that the rains and water experienced in 1972 – The “Biblical 40 day  –  40 night rainfall” – Global Warming?  The “popular” reason at that period was Global Cooling – Hollywood was making movies about how cold it was back then – now we blame “Global Warming?” Need to start asking questions!  Three years ago it was easy to blame “Ondoy” on Global Warming – and yet weeks later there were discussions of the amount of development in floodplains!  Again, where is the learning? Where is the coordinated plans? Where is the leadership, where is the disaster preparedness?
  4. Is it the trash?  I have another blog coming out soon concerning trash – and how much is being dumped into Manila Bay each day – tons – people know it – people know who – and people shut their eyes – but is dumping trash the reason for all the flooding and dying?
  5. Is it the settlers?  I would suggest they are not the cause of flooding – although they seem to be many of the people that suffer.  Again, the Administration seems to think it is O K for settlers to settle next to the dam when the sun is out – why don’t they take any action?

There are facts in place that are undeniable. If the Administration opens the flood gates, opens the dams – people will die – and yet – they do it anyway!  Why?  There are many places where flooding is avoided with preparedness – how come the Administration cannot prepare?

At some point people will start asking questions and I am not sure the Administration will have answers.  They seem to just wait for the sun to come out, bury the dead, and move on to another catastrophic event.  Shame.  Guess what – it is going to rain – this is the Philippines!  Lets do some preparation – have the Administration show some leadership – how about a novel idea – how about the Administration saving lives instead of knowingly killing people!

Let me start off with some thoughts – These discussions involve TRILLIONS of dollars – unfortunately, only a privileged few earn BILLIONS.  Global Warming – I personally think we have been conned.  I am separating Global Warming, Climate Change, and Earth Day – don’t lump them all together.  I would encourage everyone to watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGodDOLvBxw

I owned a company called Strategic Energy Partners.  We researched and developed systems, products, services, etc. for homeowners, business, government – local, state, and national entities.   Continue reading
